Who We Are?

FDS (Fraud Detection System) protects online transactions from fraudsters and abusers. We build highly sophisticated and analytics-based systems and services that scan massive amounts of transaction-related data (buyer, seller, payment, etc.) to uncover underlying correlations and detect fraud and abuse patterns, as well as tools and processes for operation teams to investigate and act on these. A robust FDS protects Coupang’s brand and image, prevents negative impacts to Customers and Sellers and reduces revenue loss.

Our mission is to ensure that every transaction is trusted, safe, and protected from fraud. We build the brand image that Coupang is a trustworthy place to buy things and do business.

One important aspect of e-Commerce service is to always simplify and streamline user experience, providing more convenience for customers. This cannot be done without the critical support of FDS, which ensures convenience doesn’t come with fraud and abuse.

FDS is also a mandatory service from a compliance perspective, both for Coupang as an open e-Commerce platform, and for RocketPay.

How We Do?

By leveraging state-of-the-art Big Data technologies and machine learning expertise, we try to build a data-driven culture for fraud detection and risk management. We deeply believe in the machine learning approach to fight fraudsters and protect our customers, and are the early adopters for Big Data and Machine Learning technologies at scale in Coupang.

We view Big Data and Machine Learning as our core strengths. Starting from data acquisition to predictive models, FDS Tribe teams are organized into several smaller groups including FDS Commerce, FDS Payment, FDS Data Platform and FDS Science.

The FDS tribe is a true blending group with both data scientists and aspired technologists. Advanced analytics powered by strong engineering muscles creates solutions to one of the most compelling battles for e-Commerce company like Coupang. We’re the modern detectives hunting for fraudulent activities, but only with better weapons in our hands.

Responsibilities:

·           Analyze e-Commerce & payment fraud behavior and identify fraud patterns to suggest fraud detection rules

·           Develop metrics measuring inputs and outputs, in collaboration with various business and operations stakeholders

·           Provide root cause analysis affecting key business problems

·           Work with internal teams to get access to required data and to drive requirements for the data platform

·           Study global commerce & payment risk strategy, analyze product fraud trend and anti-fraud strategy

·           Create metrics to track and analyze the business needs and effects & benefits of the initiatives

 

Qualifications:

·           Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Retail/e-commerce/marketing

·           Bachelor’s degree, majoring in Statistics, Mathematics, and Information Management preferred. 3-5 years in a business intelligence/analyst role in a relevant industry such as e-commerce, retail, payment and logistics.

·           Intermediate to advanced skills in using SQL, Excel, and Access is a must.

·           Ability to understand multiple retail business models and their technical implementation.

·           Ability to prioritize work in a complex, fast-paced environment.

·           Ability to work with ambiguous problems.

·           Experience in customer data modeling, data operation, and data product design and development.
